Another Attempted Burglary in the Hollywood Hills — Dodgers Pitcher’s Home Targeted

Chopper view of Yoshinobu Yamamoto's Hollywood Hills Home

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 30, 2025, the Hollywood Hills home of Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto became the latest property targeted in a growing wave of attempted burglaries involving high-profile Los Angeles athletes.

Around 5 a.m., private security personnel responded to an alert at Yamamoto’s residence, where a shattered glass door indicated an attempted forced entry. According to reports from NBC Los Angeles, surveillance cameras captured three individuals as they broke the glass. Fortunately, staff who were present inside the home at the time turned on the interior lights, which appeared to scare off the intruders before they could gain entry.

Yamamoto, who is currently on the road with the Dodgers for a series against the Cincinnati Reds, was not at home during the incident. LAPD officers arrived after the suspects had already fled the scene. No arrests have been made as of yet.

This incident adds to a troubling trend affecting Los Angeles-area athletes and celebrities. Just recently, the FBI issued a warning advising public figures—particularly athletes—not to showcase valuables or identifiable features of their homes on social media. Authorities believe that such posts may be playing a role in the selection of targets for organized burglary crews.

TMZ Sports noted that Yamamoto is only the latest in a list of professional athletes in L.A. to be targeted, including players from the Dodgers, Rams, and LAFC. These incidents have underscored growing concerns about security vulnerabilities in even the most affluent neighborhoods.

While Yamamoto has yet to comment on the attempted burglary, he is expected to return to the mound this weekend for a matchup against the Tampa Bay Rays. Meanwhile, the investigation continues, and the unsettling pattern of high-profile burglary attempts in Los Angeles shows no sign of slowing down.
