Beverly Crest Burglary Suspects Captured After Overnight Pursuit Spanning Los Angeles County

An overnight burglary investigation in Los Angeles escalated into a lengthy multi-agency pursuit that stretched across Los Angeles County and ended with arrests in Long Beach early Monday morning.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to reports of a hot prowl burglary around 3 a.m. at a residence located in the 1600 block of North Beverly Drive in Beverly Crest. A hot prowl burglary is considered particularly concerning because occupants are present inside the home while the crime is taking place.

Police said the reporting party was alerted to suspicious activity after observing individuals inside the residence through a home surveillance camera system. By the time officers arrived, the suspects had already fled the scene. Authorities initially could not determine whether any property had been stolen.

Shortly after the burglary was reported, LAPD officers located a vehicle believed to be connected to the incident. The vehicle, described as a black BMW carrying three to four burglary suspects, became the focus of a pursuit that quickly moved onto the southbound 405 Freeway.

As the chase continued, the California Highway Patrol assumed primary responsibility for the pursuit. According to CHP officials, LAPD requested assistance shortly after 3:12 a.m. as the suspects traveled through multiple areas of Los Angeles County.

The pursuit continued until the suspects exited near the 105 Freeway and became involved in a collision near the intersection of Central Avenue and Imperial Highway in South Los Angeles. During the crash, the suspects reportedly struck another vehicle before coming to a stop.

One female suspect was taken into custody at the crash scene. Investigators believe additional suspects escaped by entering another vehicle, initially described as a blue Chevrolet, allowing them to continue their attempt to evade law enforcement.

Authorities tracked the suspects' movements to Long Beach, where they allegedly abandoned their vehicle near the 1000 block of Via Wanda and fled on foot into a nearby apartment complex. Law enforcement officers conducted an extensive search of the area while investigators examined the abandoned black BMW for evidence.

By approximately 7:15 a.m., LAPD confirmed that two suspects had been arrested in connection with the burglary investigation. Authorities stated that at least one additional suspect remained outstanding as the search continued.

Investigators have not yet released information regarding the identities of those arrested or whether any items were taken from the Beverly Crest residence. The burglary investigation remains active, and additional details are expected as authorities continue to gather evidence and interview those involved.

The incident highlights the increasingly important role that residential surveillance technology plays in modern investigations. In this case, video monitoring reportedly allowed the homeowner to detect suspicious activity in real time and provide critical information to responding officers, helping initiate a response that ultimately led to multiple arrests.

As of Monday morning, no additional information had been released by either the LAPD or the California Highway Patrol.
