A quiet Westwood neighborhood was thrust into chaos early Wednesday morning when a home on Lindbrook Drive became the target of a violent burglary attempt.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred around 5:10 a.m. on May 14, 2025. At least four suspects forcibly entered the residence near the intersection of Beverly Glen and Wilshire boulevards. The family inside was reportedly startled awake as the break-in unfolded.
Fortunately, an on-site security officer was present at the home and intervened. LAPD officials say that upon confronting the suspects, the situation quickly escalated. The intruders allegedly attempted to flee in a vehicle and, in the process, tried to run over the security officer. In response, the officer fired a round, though no injuries were reported.
Authorities confirmed that one of the suspects was apprehended at the scene, while the remaining individuals fled and are still at large. The names of the suspects and victims have not been released, and police have yet to provide a description of those still being sought.
The LAPD has launched a full investigation into the incident and is urging anyone with information to come forward.
This alarming event serves as a stark reminder of the risks homeowners may face—even in typically quiet, affluent neighborhoods like Westwood. The quick response by the security officer likely prevented the situation from escalating further.
