Sherman Oaks, CA – Former Los Angeles Laker Christian Wood reportedly opened fire at a group of suspects attempting to break into a Sherman Oaks home on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The incident occurred around 1 p.m. on November 6 in the 14800 block of Otsego Street. Police say three suspects allegedly tried to gain entry through the back door of the residence before being met by gunfire from inside. The shots reportedly caused the suspects to flee the scene in a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Authorities described the incident as a “hot prowl,” meaning an occupied home was targeted during an attempted burglary. No injuries were reported, and nothing was stolen from the property. It remains unclear whether any of the suspects were struck by the gunfire.
LAPD officials confirmed that Wood, an NBA free agent who played for the Lakers from 2023 to 2025, was staying at the property at the time of the attempted break-in.
Investigators are still working to determine whether Wood owns or rents the home.
As of Thursday morning, no arrests have been made, and police have not released additional details about the suspects. The investigation remains ongoing.
