A disturbing armed robbery near Los Angeles International Airport left a man bound with duct tape inside his own vehicle Tuesday night, prompting a large police response and an ongoing investigation.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were called to the 6100 block of West Century Boulevard around 8:14 p.m. after reports of a victim found inside a car with his feet duct-taped. The man, believed to be in his 50s, was conscious when officers arrived but was experiencing difficulty breathing. Paramedics treated him at the scene.
Police later issued a crime broadcast indicating the robbery had occurred roughly 30 minutes earlier at the same location. Investigators said the suspect allegedly used a handgun during the robbery and made off with the victim’s wallet and jewelry.
The victim was discovered on the third floor of a parking structure along Century Boulevard near LAX. It remains unclear how long he had been restrained inside the vehicle before being found. A stringer service, RMG News, reported that the man may have been beaten during the incident, though authorities have not confirmed those details.
Video footage from the scene showed duct tape scattered on the ground, Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responding, and yellow crime-scene tape being set up as paramedics assisted the victim. Officers from LAPD’s Pacific Division established a large perimeter while investigators worked the scene.
The suspect was described as a white male wearing a black hat, black shirt, and black pants. As of Wednesday morning, no arrests had been announced.
Anyone with information related to the incident is urged to contact the Los Angeles Police Department.
