A Florida family faced a terrifying moment last week when a stranger broke into their Wilton Manors home in the early hours of Saturday morning. Luckily, one of the residents was uniquely prepared to defend his loved ones—not with weapons, but with his training and composure.
The intruder, later identified as 31-year-old Austin Carasani, entered the home while several family members were inside. Henny, a trained mixed martial arts fighter, said he was awakened by his nephew warning him that someone was standing in their living room. Without hesitation, Henny confronted the stranger.
“I don’t have guns; I wasn’t looking for a knife—just God and my hands, that’s it,” Henny told reporters.
According to police reports, Carasani claimed he had been drinking at a local club and believed he was trying to reach a friend’s house nearby. Whatever his intentions, his decision to enter the wrong home ended in a bruising encounter. By the time Carasani faced a judge later that day, his face showed clear evidence of Henny’s quick response.
Family members described the panic of the moment. Henny’s sister, Patrizia Rojas, said she and her husband were out of town when they received a frantic call from their teenage son. “He was screaming, ‘Mom, call police, someone has broken into the house,’” she recalled.
Neighbors also witnessed the aftermath, with one resident noting that Carasani appeared stunned and shaken during the altercation.
As of Tuesday, Carasani remained in Broward County Jail on a $20,000 bond. No injuries were reported among the family, and Henny expressed no regrets about stepping in to protect his home and loved ones. Source: ABC7
