In an incident that seems ripped from the pages of a bizarre crime novel, a quiet neighborhood in Chino, California was jolted by a mid-day break-in that quickly turned dangerous—and downright surreal.
It happened around noon on Tuesday, April 22nd, when police say a man—later identified as 39-year-old Svens Sokolovskis of Whittier—broke into a home on Lombardy Court by climbing through a front window. Inside the house were a husband and wife, who were reportedly caught off guard by the intruder.
According to Chino Police, the male homeowner acted quickly, shooting the suspect after discovering him inside their home. That’s when things took an unexpected turn: after being shot, Sokolovskis allegedly stripped off all his clothes and was found naked when officers arrived on the scene.
Authorities believe Sokolovskis was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident. He was taken into custody and transported to a hospital, where he's said to be in stable condition. Police confirmed that criminal charges will be filed once he is released.
The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives are asking anyone with additional information to contact the Chino Police Department at 909-334-3035.
While the details are unusual, the underlying story is a serious one: a home invasion in broad daylight that could have ended much worse. Fortunately, the homeowners were not injured.
