Three Toronto teens have been charged following a string of home invasions and vehicle thefts in Mississauga and Richmond Hill that ended with a stolen Porsche crashing into several police cruisers.
The first break-in happened on Friday according to York Regional Police, who say officers with Peel Regional Police responded to a home invasion call in the area of Birchview Drive and Springhill Drive.
Police say an Audi A7 and Porsche Cayenne were stolen from the area by two suspects.
Investigators were able to locate the stolen rides in Toronto and officers with the Provincial Carjacking Task Force (PCJTF) and Emergency Response Unit began monitoring the stolen vehicles and three suspects.
Then on Monday, police say the two of the suspects broke into a residence near Frybrook Crescent and Boake Trail in Richmond Hill while the third waited outside in the stolen Porsche.
Two of the suspects made a break for it but were taken into custody by officers, and police say one of the men was carrying a replica firearm.
But the would-be getaway driver hit several police vehicles while trying to flee the scene and the driver was arrested when the vehicle became immobilized after slamming into a retaining wall, police said.
York Regional Police have charged 18-year-old Tariq Mansour, Javed Haider and Muhab Ahmed Ali, all of Toronto, with two counts each of robbery using restricted or prohibited firearm and disguise with intent, as well as one count each of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Police say both Haider and Mansour were already on bail for previous, unrelated charges and have been charged with multiple counts each of fail to comply with judicial release order.
