The California home of WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu was reportedly burglarized on Monday night, December 15, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). The incident is the latest in a series of high-profile athlete home burglaries reported across the country in recent months.
Police confirmed that two unidentified suspects broke into the Los Angeles–area residence shortly after 8 p.m. Online property records reviewed by multiple outlets show the home belongs to Ionescu and her husband, former NFL lineman Hroniss Grasu.
Neither homeowner was present at the time of the break-in.
Masked Suspects Reportedly Stole $60,000 in Handbags
According to LAPD statements, the suspects used a tool to smash a glass door to gain entry into the home, activating the property’s security alarm. The burglars fled the scene in an unknown direction before officers arrived.
While police did not officially list the stolen items, local media outlets citing law enforcement sources reported that the suspects were wearing ski masks and stole multiple luxury handbags with an estimated total value of $60,000.
Authorities are currently reviewing available security camera footage, and as of Tuesday, no arrests have been made.
Part of a Growing Pattern of Athlete Home Burglaries
The reported burglary at Ionescu’s home comes amid a noticeable increase in residential break-ins targeting professional athletes. In recent months, similar incidents have involved players from the NBA, NFL, WNBA, and WWE.
Law enforcement agencies have noted that many of these burglaries occur while homeowners are traveling for games, appearances, or other professional commitments, suggesting a level of coordination and surveillance rather than random opportunity.
Although investigators have not publicly connected this case to any organized crime group, authorities nationwide continue to monitor patterns related to high-value residential thefts.
