Three burglary suspects were taken into custody Wednesday evening after a police pursuit through Los Angeles ended in a violent crash and vehicle fire in the Beverly Grove neighborhood.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers initially responded to a burglary call in the 1600 block of Sunset Plaza Drive in the Hollywood Hills at approximately 5:50 p.m.
Shortly after arriving in the area, officers located the suspects’ vehicle, identified as a Lexus sedan, and attempted a traffic stop. The suspects allegedly refused to pull over, prompting a pursuit through city streets.
The chase came to an abrupt end near the intersection of Robertson Boulevard and 3rd Street when the Lexus collided with an SUV. The impact left both vehicles heavily damaged and created a chaotic scene in the busy Beverly Grove area.
Sky5 footage captured the aftermath, showing both vehicles stopped near a power pole outside a 76 gas station. Moments after the collision, the Lexus erupted in flames, forcing fire crews to quickly respond and extinguish the blaze using chemical fire suppression agents.
Despite the severity of the crash, all three suspects exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. LAPD officers launched an immediate search and successfully apprehended all three suspects a short time later.
Authorities confirmed that one person was transported to a local hospital for treatment following the incident. Police have not yet clarified whether the injured individual was one of the suspects or the driver of the SUV involved in the collision.
Investigators have not released the identities of the suspects, and the burglary investigation remains ongoing.
The incident serves as another reminder of how quickly burglary cases can escalate into dangerous and unpredictable situations, putting both law enforcement officers and innocent bystanders at risk.
