String of Weekend Home Burglaries Under Investigation Across San Fernando Valley

A series of home burglaries reported across the San Fernando Valley over the weekend has prompted an ongoing investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), leaving residents concerned about residential crime in their communities.
According to FOX 11 Los Angeles, burglaries were reported in Granada Hills, Sylmar, and Sun Valley. Authorities have not confirmed whether the incidents are connected, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Armed Home Invasion Reported in Granada Hills
One of the reported incidents occurred early Sunday morning on Newcastle Avenue in Granada Hills, where police believe several suspects carried out an armed home invasion.
LAPD officials said three male suspects stole property from the residence before fleeing the scene. Investigators believe the suspects left in a black pickup truck.
Authorities have not released further details about the stolen property or whether anyone was injured during the incident.
The Granada Hills break-in was among several residential burglaries reported across the Valley during the weekend, though investigators have not established whether the incidents involved the same individuals.
Residents Express Concerns Over Neighborhood Break-Ins
The reported burglaries have added to concerns among some San Fernando Valley residents about residential crime in the area.
A Chatsworth resident identified as Sam told FOX 11 that break-ins seem to occur regularly in communities throughout the Valley, including Encino, Chatsworth, and Porter Ranch.
Other residents expressed a more measured view of the situation. A Northridge resident identified as Jim said he had not personally experienced a break-in and did not consider his neighborhood particularly dangerous, while emphasizing the importance of remaining aware of one's surroundings.
The differing reactions reflect how reports of residential burglaries can affect communities even when residents have not experienced a crime firsthand.
Investigation Remains Ongoing
As of August 17, authorities had not confirmed whether the burglaries in Granada Hills, Sylmar, and Sun Valley were related. No arrests had been reported in connection with the incidents.
Investigators will continue working to determine whether the break-ins share common characteristics and identify those responsible.
Residents with information about the reported incidents are encouraged to contact the Los Angeles Police Department.
