3-Year-Old Found Safe After Reported Home Invasion and Kidnapping in Van Nuys

A 3-year-old boy who was reportedly taken during a home invasion in Van Nuys on Wednesday morning has been found safe, and a suspect has been taken into custody, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

LAPD officers responded to a residence in the 7600 block of Van Nuys Boulevard, near Saticoy Street, at approximately 8:12 a.m. on Aug. 5 following reports of a home invasion and kidnapping.

According to police, the suspect was described as a man with black hair and brown eyes who was reportedly wearing a black shirt and black sweatpants. Authorities also indicated that the suspect may have been known to the child or the victim.

The incident prompted a significant law enforcement response as officers investigated the reported kidnapping and searched for the child and suspect.

At approximately 1:53 p.m., officers with the California Highway Patrol in Fresno took both the suspect and the child into custody. Authorities did not immediately disclose where the two were located or provide additional details about how the child was taken from the home.
