A late-night robbery in Studio City turned violent Sunday after suspects opened fire on two victims during a street robbery, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Police responded to reports of a shooting around 11:30 p.m. on the 4100 block of Lankershim Boulevard on March 8. When officers arrived, they learned that two victims had just been robbed by a group of suspects who then fired multiple gunshots as they fled the scene.
Authorities say three suspects were involved in the robbery. The group allegedly approached the victims in two separate vehicles, taking gold chains, a ring, and a cellphone before opening fire. Fortunately, neither victim was struck by the gunfire.
However, during the chaotic incident, one of the victims appeared to suffer a head injury. Video footage from the scene showed paramedics transporting the injured individual to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Investigators described the suspects as Hispanic men in their 20s, all wearing dark clothing. One suspect was reportedly dressed in black jeans and a black jacket, another wore a black sweatshirt with black jeans, and the third was also seen in a black jacket and black jeans.
After the robbery and shooting, the suspects fled the area in two vehicles — a dark-colored Honda and a white SUV — heading eastbound.
Police canvassed the area for evidence overnight and are continuing to search for the suspects. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact authorities.
The investigation remains ongoing.
