In the early hours of Thursday morning, an attempted burglary at a Lynwood residence ended with one suspect fatally shot—by one of his own accomplices—according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The incident occurred around 1:45 a.m. in the 11000 block of Linden Street. Deputies responded to a call reporting a home burglary in progress. Upon arrival, they discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
According to homicide investigators, the man was one of five adult male suspects who had broken into the home dressed in all-black clothing. Authorities say the group was startled by the presence of the home’s residents and fled the scene. During the escape, one of the suspects fired a gun toward the residence, striking and fatally wounding another member of the group.
The remaining four suspects fled northbound on Linden Street and have not yet been located.
Officials are asking anyone with information to contact the Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477 or online at lacrimestoppers.org.
