A late-night burglary attempt in North Hollywood ended abruptly when two suspects reportedly abandoned their plans after realizing the home was occupied.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred around midnight on Blythe Street near Fulton Avenue in North Hollywood. Investigators say the suspects gained entry to the residence by breaking a rear glass sliding door before entering the home.

Once inside, however, the suspects allegedly encountered an unexpected obstacle: the homeowners were present.

Police said the would-be burglars immediately fled the residence after seeing the occupants. No confrontation was reported, and the suspects left without taking any property from the home.

Authorities believe the suspects may have arrived and departed in a dark-colored Tesla, which is now being sought as part of the investigation.

The incident highlights a common trend noted by law enforcement agencies across Southern California, where residential burglars often target homes they believe are unoccupied. In some cases, suspects abandon their plans when they discover residents are inside, reducing the opportunity for theft but creating a potentially dangerous situation for homeowners.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the North Hollywood incident, and the homeowners were unharmed.

The investigation remains ongoing as police work to identify the suspects and locate the vehicle believed to be connected to the attempted burglary.
