A frightening home invasion in Cannes has left the founders of wellness brand Cymbiotika shaken after armed intruders targeted their rental property during one of the city’s most high-profile annual events.

According to reports, Shahab Elmi and Durana Elmi, co-founders of Cymbiotika, were staying in a rented home in Cannes, France, with their two young children while attending the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

In the early hours of Thursday morning, three masked men reportedly forced their way into the property and confronted the family at gunpoint. The suspects allegedly stole several high-value items before fleeing the scene.

Among the stolen belongings were luxury watches, jewelry, cash, and other expensive goods.

Representatives for the family later confirmed the traumatic nature of the incident, while emphasizing that everyone in the home survived unharmed.

“Thankfully, the family is safe. At this time, the Elmi family asks for privacy as they process and heal from this traumatic incident,” a spokesperson said.

The incident occurred shortly after the family had been attending meetings and networking events tied to Cannes Lions, one of the world’s largest gatherings for leaders in media, advertising, business, and entertainment.

Durana Elmi had also recently shared highlights from the trip, including a notable meeting with Oprah Winfrey during the festival.

Cymbiotika has rapidly grown into one of the wellness industry’s most recognizable brands. Founded in 2018, the company has built a major following through its focus on plant-based supplements, wellness products, and longevity-focused health solutions.

Its growth accelerated significantly in recent years, especially following a nationwide retail expansion into Target stores and increased backing from celebrity investors.

The robbery highlights an ongoing security concern in France, particularly during major international events that attract wealthy travelers, celebrities, and business executives.

High-profile robberies involving affluent visitors have become an increasing concern in cities such as Cannes and Paris. One of the most widely known cases involved Kim Kardashian, who was robbed at gunpoint in Paris in 2016 during Fashion Week, with thieves stealing an estimated $10 million in jewelry.

More recently, professional footballer Yves Bissouma was targeted in Cannes when thieves reportedly used tear gas before stealing an expensive luxury watch.

Authorities have repeatedly warned that organized criminal groups often target affluent visitors during major events, especially those perceived to be carrying or wearing high-value items.

The home invasion involving the Elmi family is the latest in a series of alarming incidents that underscore the risks faced by high-profile individuals traveling abroad.

For now, the focus remains on the family’s recovery as they process what was undoubtedly a terrifying experience. Source: NY Post
