Beverly Hills, long known as a symbol of luxury and glamour, was the scene of a violent attack this past weekend when former model and television personality Camille Anderson was mugged by three men while walking with a friend.
Anderson, 47, who once held the title of Miss Austin USA and is known for hosting Selling Mega Mansions, was walking between restaurants on Saturday night when two men approached her from an alley. One of the suspects lunged, attempting to take her purse.
“I could see someone in the alleyway, I didn’t think much of it and it happened so quickly,” Anderson told KTLA. “They lunged at me and tried to take my purse. I tensed up—it was just my natural reaction—and because they didn’t get it on the first attempt, the person slammed me to the ground.”
The assailants grabbed her purse and fled into a waiting vehicle driven by a third suspect. Bystanders immediately called 911, and Beverly Hills Police quickly located the suspects. Authorities identified them as Vlad Oganisyan, 23, Razmik Papikyan, 25, and Grigoryan Vahagn, 45. They were arrested but later released on bond.
Anderson was left with bruises and cuts on her upper body and legs but said she was grateful her injuries weren’t more serious. “Luckily, I’m going to heal,” she said. “I just think it’s important to talk about this so people are aware.”
Her stolen purse was later recovered by police from the suspects’ vehicle.
In an Instagram post, Anderson urged others to take extra precautions in the area:
“I was thrown to the ground very forcefully, like body slammed into the ground. There were several men, grown adult men, that did this. I just want to get this message out there to take safety so seriously in Los Angeles. It’s a really big problem.”
She advised residents and visitors not to carry luxury handbags or wear expensive jewelry, which could make them a target.
Despite her ordeal, Anderson praised the Beverly Hills Police Department for their swift action in apprehending the suspects.
Recent crime figures show an overall decline in crime across Beverly Hills, with robberies and burglaries down compared to last year. However, this incident highlights ongoing safety concerns even in some of the city’s most exclusive neighborhoods.
