Homeowner Scares Off Suspected Burglars During Hollywood Hills Break-In Attempt

A homeowner in the Hollywood Hills successfully scared off a group of suspected burglars during an attempted break-in late Saturday night, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on July 11 in the 1900 block of Sunset Plaza Drive. Police say several suspects arrived at the residence and allegedly used a crowbar to smash a front window in an apparent effort to gain entry.

Before the suspects were able to enter the home, they were confronted by the homeowner. The confrontation was enough to send the group fleeing the scene before officers arrived.

Video captured during the response showed an LAPD helicopter circling overhead as officers searched the surrounding Hollywood Hills neighborhood for the suspects. Despite the extensive search, police have not released descriptions of those involved or confirmed whether they escaped on foot or in a vehicle.

Investigators responded to the residence, documented the attempted burglary and launched an investigation into the incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The attempted break-in is the latest in a string of residential burglary incidents that have kept many residents in affluent Los Angeles neighborhoods on heightened alert over the past year. Authorities continue to investigate the case and are asking anyone with information about the attempted burglary to contact the Los Angeles Police Department.

As of now, no arrests have been announced, and the investigation remains ongoing.
