Mother and Baby Inside Studio City Home During Break-In

A Studio City family was home Friday night when burglars broke into their residence, prompting a significant police response and a neighborhood search.

The burglary was reported shortly after 8:15 p.m. in the 11200 block of Briarcliff Lane near Laurel Canyon Boulevard. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, people were inside the residence when the break-in occurred, classifying the incident as a “hot prowl” burglary.

The suspects fled the property before officers arrived. Police responded to the neighborhood and took a burglary report while investigators searched the surrounding area for evidence.

Video from the scene showed a mother holding her young child while speaking with officers outside the home. Multiple police vehicles were seen along the street as officers investigated, while a police helicopter assisted in the search for the suspects.

According to authorities, no one was injured during the incident. As of Saturday morning, no arrests had been announced, and investigators had not determined whether any property was stolen. Police also had not released a description of the suspects.

A stringer service at the scene reported that the mother and her baby may have come face-to-face with the suspects. However, authorities had not immediately confirmed that detail.

The incident is part of a broader pattern of residential burglaries that law enforcement agencies have been working to address across the San Fernando Valley and West Los Angeles. In recent months, authorities have announced arrests involving alleged organized burglary crews accused of targeting numerous homes.
