Neighbor Follows Burglary Suspects After Woodland Hills Break-In

Neighbor chases burglary suspects news headline

A Sunday evening burglary in Woodland Hills turned dramatic after a quick-thinking neighbor jumped into action, trailing the suspects and capturing the pursuit on video.

Surveillance footage from the neighborhood shows two individuals rushing out of a home, hauling a large item to a waiting black sedan before speeding off. A nearby resident, upon witnessing the scene, decided to follow the suspects in their own car. During the chase, the resident filmed the thieves’ erratic getaway—at one point capturing them making a sudden U-turn as more neighbors began to take notice.

“We put our hands up in the air like, ‘What are you doing?’” one witness told ABC7, describing the confusion as the suspects circled back through the area. That same witness called 911 after observing the suspects driving recklessly.

Additional video shows the getaway car crashing into another vehicle. Witnesses reported that the front driver’s side wheel of the car collapsed in the impact, yet the suspects still attempted to flee, skidding on the damaged tire.

The break-in is the latest in a string of similar incidents reported across the San Fernando Valley. Just last week, residents in Studio City experienced multiple attempted burglaries. One resident, identified only as Matt, shared an image of three masked individuals attempting to enter his home. He said that since then, his block has launched a neighborhood watch to deter suspicious activity.

Back in Woodland Hills, the suspects' getaway vehicle reportedly had its license plate obscured—a detail investigators are likely reviewing as part of their ongoing investigation. Authorities have not yet confirmed any arrests or identified the suspects involved.

"This stuff can't keep happening. They have to be caught," said one frustrated witness.

Police are continuing to investigate whether this incident is linked to other recent break-ins throughout the area.
