Authorities say a woman in her 30s has been arrested after allegedly opening fire on the Los Angeles home of pop superstar Rihanna while the singer and her family were inside.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), officers responded to reports of gunfire around 1:15 p.m. Sunday in the 9500 block of Heather Road in the upscale Beverly Crest neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Investigators say roughly ten rounds were fired toward the property from a vehicle that had either stopped or was parked across the street. At least one bullet reportedly pierced a wall of the large hillside mansion, where Rihanna lives with her partner, rapper ASAP Rocky, and their three children.
Police say the suspect fled the area in a white Tesla, heading south on Coldwater Canyon Drive shortly after the shots were fired.
Suspect Arrested Shortly After Incident
Investigators were able to gather information about the suspect after speaking with the reporting party and witnesses in the neighborhood. A short time later, officers located and arrested the woman without incident.
Authorities confirmed that a weapon was recovered during the arrest. The suspect’s identity has not yet been publicly released.
Footage from the scene showed a section of the quiet residential street blocked off with yellow crime scene tape while officers conducted their investigation. Police were also seen speaking with private security personnel outside the home.
Neighbors Describe Sudden Gunfire
Local resident Isabel Thorne said she was inside her home doing dishes when the gunfire broke the neighborhood’s usual calm.
“I was a little shocked,” she said. “We don’t hear that kind of thing in this neighborhood. It’s pretty quiet.”
Thorne initially heard a single loud shot, noting that sound tends to echo throughout the valley.
“Everything in this valley echoes,” she said. “Even when someone has a party, when there’s music.”
Within minutes, she said police had arrived on the scene. It was only afterward that neighbors realized the gunfire had been directed toward Rihanna’s property.
The singer’s presence in the neighborhood is widely known, residents say, in part because tour buses occasionally pass through the area hoping to catch a glimpse of the star’s hillside estate.
No Injuries Reported
Despite the alarming nature of the incident, police confirmed that no one inside the home was injured. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the motive behind the shooting.
The incident adds to a growing list of security concerns affecting high-profile individuals and luxury neighborhoods in the Los Angeles area, where celebrities and public figures often rely on private security teams to protect their homes and families.
