Police officers investigate a late-night burglary at Toluca Lake. Brick background, dimly lit street lamps, and visible text create a tense mood.

A quiet neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley was disrupted Saturday night after a family in Toluca Lake became victims of a residential burglary, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Officers responded to a call just before 11 p.m. on March 21, 2026, reporting a break-in at a home located on Whipple Street near North Ledge Avenue. By the time police arrived, the suspects had already fled. The family, who had exited the residence, was waiting outside alongside private security that had been alerted to the incident.

Preliminary information from investigators indicates that two male suspects gained entry through a back door. They reportedly left the property carrying a duffle bag filled with items belonging to the homeowners. Authorities have not disclosed what was taken or the estimated value of the stolen property.

It remains unclear whether the burglary was witnessed in real time or captured on surveillance systems. Footage from the scene later showed multiple officers at the residence, appearing to conduct a safety check before allowing the family to reenter.

No arrests have been made, and the case is still under active investigation. Officials are asking anyone with information to contact the LAPD’s North Hollywood Station. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers.

The incident adds to ongoing concerns about residential burglaries in high-end neighborhoods across Los Angeles, where suspects often act quickly and leave before law enforcement arrives.
