Residents of Woodland Hills are on edge after two brazen burglaries struck the same residential street within minutes of each other early Thursday morning.
According to Los Angeles police, the incidents happened around 4:30 a.m. on September 11, 2025, in the 22800 block of Calvert Street. Surveillance cameras captured multiple masked suspects carrying large bags as they sprinted toward a waiting white SUV, which quickly sped off.
One witness, who was heading to work at the time, told reporters he saw the burglary in progress as suspects emerged from a vacant rental home. “I called 911. I couldn’t get a license plate or anything,” he said. “It is scary.”
Second Break-In Just Doors Away
Investigators believe the same crew may also be behind a more harrowing crime just a few doors down. In that case, around seven armed intruders forced their way into a home occupied by five British nationals.
The suspects reportedly dressed as police officers and shouted “Police! Police!” while breaking in. Fortunately, none of the victims believed them. All five managed to escape unharmed, though they were so shaken by the ordeal that they told the homeowner they would not be returning to live there.
Blood evidence was found at the scene, suggesting one suspect injured himself while smashing through a door. Several firearms were also recovered, though authorities have not confirmed whether they belonged to the crew or the former tenants.
A Troubling Pattern
These back-to-back incidents come just over a week after another violent crime in the same community. On Labor Day, armed men attempted to rob two workers who were detailing a car in a homeowner’s driveway. The thieves escaped with little more than a watch and a pocketknife, but the confrontation left both the workers and the homeowner deeply rattled.
“It was a bit traumatizing for all of us,” the homeowner said. “It actually made me realize that I don’t necessarily want to live in Woodland Hills anymore.”
Community Concerns
Police have not confirmed exactly what was stolen in the latest burglaries, but the level of coordination and boldness shown by the suspects has left residents alarmed.
From staged disguises as law enforcement to targeting both occupied and unoccupied homes in the same sweep, these crimes highlight the growing sophistication and audacity of organized burglary crews operating in Southern California.
