Authorities in Arcadia, California are investigating a high-value residential burglary that occurred in broad daylight over the weekend, leaving a homeowner reeling from the loss of over $125,000 in luxury items—and a stolen firearm.
The incident happened just after 4 p.m. on the 1000 block of Lovell Avenue. According to a release by the Arcadia Police Department, the suspect smashed a window to gain entry into the residence while the homeowner was away. Once inside, the intruder ransacked the primary bedroom closet, targeting high-end valuables.
Interior surveillance footage captured a male Hispanic suspect, clad in a black jacket and pants, moving through the home at approximately 4:16 p.m. Exterior cameras recorded the man fleeing over a wall after tossing out the stolen goods—among them designer handbags, luxury shoes, a high-end watch, and a handgun.
Disturbingly, although the home was equipped with both an alarm system and security cameras, some of the equipment appeared to have been tampered with. Investigators noted that the alarm never activated during the break-in.
As of this writing, no arrests have been made, and the suspect remains at large. The Arcadia Police Department is asking anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be submitted directly to the department at (626) 574-5151, or anonymously through the L.A.
Regional Crime Stoppers Hotline at (800) 222-8477 or online at www.lacrimestoppers.org.
This latest incident is part of a troubling trend of high-value thefts targeting upscale neighborhoods across Southern California, where even alarmed and camera-equipped homes are proving vulnerable to well-prepared criminals.
