Man dead after Abbotsford home invasion

Police are investigating a fatal shooting during a home invasion in Abbotsford Friday morning.

The Abbotsford Police Department says officers were called to a reported home invasion on Nicholson Avenue near Mt. Lehman Road around 4 a.m. Reports suggest shots were fired during the invasion.

Sgt. Paul Walker with AbbyPD says when police arrived, they found a man who was already dead. Walker notes during the search of the home, officers found a drug lab.

“Early indications suggest that this incident is targeted, and the public is not at risk. Additional resources are being deployed to the scene to assist in this complex investigation,” Walker said in a statement.

The investigation has now been taken over by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), Walker says.
