A late-night trespassing incident in Studio City has left residents on edge after two masked suspects were spotted on a private residential property Friday night.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to the 3400 block of Berry Drive around 9:30 p.m. after reports of two masked men on the property. Homeowners were inside the residence at the time, but authorities confirmed the suspects never made entry into the home.
Scanner traffic indicated the suspects were last seen near the rear of the property. One suspect was reportedly wearing a gray hoodie, while the other wore a black hoodie. Initial radio reports also suggested one of the suspects may have been armed with a handgun, though LAPD has not officially confirmed that detail.
Reports from the scene suggest the suspects scaled a wall to access the property before fleeing shortly after the home’s alarm system was triggered. The alarm may have played a critical role in preventing the situation from escalating further.
Video footage captured a significant law enforcement response, with multiple LAPD units surrounding the neighborhood and officers conducting a thorough search of the area using flashlights. An LAPD helicopter also assisted from above as streets near the residence were temporarily blocked off.
Homeowners were seen outside the property speaking with officers while the search continued. Despite approximately 45 minutes of searching, authorities were unable to locate the suspects.
The incident is currently being investigated as trespassing, and both suspects remain at large.
This case comes amid growing concerns over residential crime in the San Fernando Valley. The Studio City incident occurred less than 24 hours after another burglary in nearby North Hollywood, where homeowners returned to find intruders inside their residence.
As investigations continue, residents across Los Angeles are being reminded of the importance of layered home security, especially in neighborhoods that may be increasingly targeted by organized burglary crews.
Anyone with information regarding the suspects is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles Police Department. Source: KTLA
