In the early hours of October 17th, a quiet Ventura neighborhood was shaken when a man—completely nude and allegedly under the influence of drugs—attempted to break into a home where a mother and her three children were sleeping.
According to Ventura Police, the terrifying incident occurred around 3:38 a.m. on the 6200 block of Geneva Street. A 39-year-old mother called 911 after hearing someone tampering with the restroom window of her home. With her children inside and the unknown suspect trying to gain entry, the woman stayed on the line with dispatchers as they calmly guided her to remain away from the attempted entry point.
Moments later, the situation escalated further when the suspect reportedly rang the family’s doorbell.
Officers arrived quickly and located a man walking away from the property—identified as Gabriel Torres. Police say Torres was entirely unclothed and appeared to be heavily under the influence of drugs at the time. Investigators determined that the suspect had removed the screen from the bathroom window and reached into the home during the attempted break-in.
Torres was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary and booked into the Ventura County Jail.
Authorities are encouraging anyone with additional information to contact the Ventura Police Department at 805-650-8010.
A Frightening Scenario for Any Family
The incident underscores how unpredictable—and fast—threats can emerge, even in residential areas late at night. In this case, a mother’s quick reaction and an immediate response from law enforcement helped prevent a potentially dangerous situation from escalating further.
Stories like this serve as a reminder of how important preparedness, awareness, and rapid access to emergency assistance can be when facing unexpected home intrusions—no matter how bizarre or disturbing the circumstances.
