Residents in a Los Angeles neighborhood are growing increasingly fearful after a series of burglaries that many believe are connected and carried out by an organized crew targeting homes in the area.
In the Mid-Wilshire neighborhood, one homeowner shared her experience after discovering her home had been ransacked on January 30. Surveillance video from the property captured three masked men moving through her backyard with apparent familiarity and urgency. The suspects were seen locating security cameras, cutting their cords, and throwing them into the swimming pool before forcing their way inside.
Once inside, the burglars searched methodically. According to the homeowner, they went room by room, dismantling furniture in their search for valuables. In the master bedroom, the bed was completely taken apart, with the mattress and box spring separated as the suspects searched for hidden items. Watches, laptops, and cash were among the items stolen. A fourth suspect was believed to be waiting outside in a getaway car, assisting the group’s quick escape.
After sharing her experience online, the homeowner realized she was not alone. Multiple neighbors reported similar break-ins, raising concerns that the same burglary crew may be actively targeting the area.
“It just seems to be so rampant,” she said. “It’s really disturbing.”
Just down the street, another resident, Emily, said her home was burglarized weeks earlier on December 22 while she was out of town. A friend had been house-sitting but left briefly to run errands—an absence the suspects appeared to take advantage of. The burglars shattered the glass on a back door, forced their way inside, and quickly stole thousands of dollars in valuables, including cash, jewelry, and even Pokémon cards belonging to Emily’s young son.
Investigators believe the suspects were primarily searching for easily resellable items such as jewelry and cash, a pattern echoed by other victims in the neighborhood. Many residents learned the scope of the problem through social media platforms like Nextdoor and word-of-mouth, discovering just how widespread the burglaries had become.
For families affected, the emotional toll has been significant. Emily described the incident as especially traumatic for her son, noting that the burglary occurred just days before Christmas.
Residents suspect the burglars are highly experienced. Victims reported that motion lights were disabled, even those mounted high and difficult to reach. The suspects were dressed head-to-toe in hoodies, masks, gloves, and long pants, leaving little chance of identification or forensic evidence.
As the suspects remain at large, neighbors say the sense of unease lingers. Many are now working together more closely, sharing information, watching for suspicious activity, and taking steps to protect their homes.
The victims hope that by speaking out, law enforcement will be able to identify and apprehend those responsible before more families are impacted.
Anyone with information related to these burglaries is urged to contact the Los Angeles Police Department at 1-877-527-3247 or reach out to their local law enforcement agency. Source: KTLA
