Authorities in Sierra Madre are investigating a reported residential burglary that occurred Friday evening, highlighting ongoing concerns about property crime trends across Los Angeles County.

According to the Sierra Madre Police Department, officers were dispatched around 8 p.m. to a home in the 100 block of Oak Meadow following reports of a possible burglary in progress. When officers arrived, they quickly established a perimeter and conducted a full search of the residence.

During the investigation, officers identified signs of forced entry, including broken glass on a bedroom door. A detailed sweep of the property was carried out, though no suspects were located at the scene.

Police confirmed that the homeowner was out of town at the time of the incident. At this stage, investigators have not determined whether any property was taken. However, authorities noted that multiple rooms had been disturbed.

“Officers did observe that three bedrooms had been ransacked,” the department said in a statement, underscoring the extent of the intrusion.

Detectives are continuing to follow leads and are asking anyone with relevant information to contact Detective Rogers at 626-355-1414.

The incident comes during a broader uptick in reported burglaries across parts of Los Angeles County. In particular, the San Fernando Valley has seen more than a dozen similar break-ins within a short period, according to recent reports, raising concern among residents and law enforcement agencies alike.
