In the early hours of Wednesday, May 28, a violent home invasion in the typically quiet neighborhood of San Marino, Los Angeles County, left one resident injured and a community shaken.
According to authorities, four masked suspects—one of whom was armed—forced entry into a home on the 2900 block of Duarte Road just after midnight. The intruders broke in through a front window, confronting the homeowner inside.
San Marino Police Chief John Incontro reported that the victim was ordered to stay still and was struck on the head and arm with a blunt object when he did not comply quickly enough. Despite the aggression, the homeowner and two teenagers who were also in the house chose to cooperate with the robbers. The teens were unharmed, but the adult male victim was treated for injuries at a nearby hospital.
“The suspects went through the home very quickly and left,” said Chief Incontro. “They appeared to have a specific objective and didn’t linger.”
A review of surveillance footage revealed the suspects were wearing dark clothing, hooded sweatshirts, face coverings, and gloves. They arrived in an unidentified sedan and spent approximately seven minutes inside the residence before fleeing through the same window they had used to enter.
A pistol was brandished during the invasion, and jewelry and a watch were reported stolen. The exact value of the stolen items has not been disclosed.
As of this writing, the suspects remain at large. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the San Marino Police Department at (626) 300-0720. Tips may also be submitted anonymously at L.A. Crime Stoppers or by calling 800-222-8477.
This incident marks another troubling example of home invasions becoming more organized and aggressive in affluent neighborhoods, raising serious concerns about residential safety across Los Angeles County.
